AI for Everyone — Research in Accessible & Adaptive Technology

Our Insights

At Bat X Labs, we study how to simplify, personalize, and make artificial intelligence available to all — regardless of age, ability, or technical background.

Guidance

We offer

Our research centers on a fundamental shift in how AI is delivered: the technology should adapt to the person, not the other way around. We study how large language models and locally deployed AI tools can be configured, simplified, and personalized to serve communities that mainstream technology has consistently left behind — including elderly adults, individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities, and households with limited access to digital resources. By deploying AI in offline, privacy-first environments, we remove barriers like internet dependency, data security concerns, and the steep learning curves that prevent so many people from accessing today's most powerful tools. This work contributes to a growing body of research on equitable AI deployment and human-centered design at the community level.

Reduce Reuse Recycle

Engage in

Every year, millions of computers, phones, and devices are discarded not because they stopped working, but because access to repairs was blocked, parts were made unavailable, or replacement was marketed as the only option. We believe this is one of the most preventable contributors to the global e-waste crisis — and one of the most direct threats to technology access for low-income individuals, small businesses, and underserved communities. The right to repair is not simply a consumer issue. It is an equity issue. When people are empowered to fix, upgrade, and extend the life of their devices, they save money, reduce environmental harm, and maintain control over the technology they depend on. We actively support right-to-repair legislation and incorporate repair-first principles into every service we provide.

Community

Connect with

We translate research directly into community impact. Through custom accessible workstation builds and responsible e-waste recovery, we put functional, AI-ready technology into the hands of individuals and small organizations who would otherwise have no path to it — whether that means a voice-assisted setup for a senior navigating a computer for the first time, a simplified private AI for a small nonprofit managing sensitive client data, or a refurbished system built from recovered hardware for a household that cannot afford new equipment. Every device configured and every model adapted is a measurable step toward digital equity — where the benefits of artificial intelligence are not reserved for those with enterprise budgets, but accessible to every member of the community.
